"On page 14 and 15 of the original 1971 Glove Box Opel GT Owner’s manual it indicates:
Parking Brake Warning Lights
On cars equipped with automatic transmission, the parking brake warning light is combined with the brake system warning light and will light with the ignition switch turned on when either the parking brake is applied or the brake system warning light switch is depressed. This light is to warn you to release the parking brake before driving the car.
Brake System Warning Light
The service brake system is designed so that half of the brake system will provide some braking action in the event of a hydraulic leak in the other half of the system. When the brake apply system is not operating properly, the warning light will glow when the brakes are firmly applied and the iginition is on. The light will go out when the foot is removed from the pedal.
- As a check on bulb condition the light should glow with the parking brake applied and the ignition on. (On automatic transmission equipped vehicles, light is a reminder to release parking brake, and on manual transmission equipped vehicles, that the clutch pedal needs adjustment.)
- Have system repaired if light does not come on during check.
- This warning light is not a substitute for the visual check of brake fluid level required as part of normal maintenance.
If the light glows red:
- The parking brake is not fully released (auto. Transmission equipped vehicles).
- The service brake system is partially inoperative.
- The clutch pedal needs adjsutment (manual transmission equipped vehicles).
Would any of the old time experts here on the forum explain in more detail how the clutch pedal adjustment may affect this?"
Ik heb zelf geen USA Opel GT en ook geen automaat, dus ik weet niet wat het wel en niet zou moeten doen. Wellicht dat dit helpt.
